About Us
NWCIS was set up in
April 2006 when the North Western and Merseyside and Cheshire
Cancer registries were combined into a single organisation. NWCIS
covers the areas of Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Lancashire, South
Cumbria, Merseyside and Cheshire.
Along with being a member of the United Kingdom
Association of Cancer Registries (UKACR), each English
cancer registry has taken the lead for one or more tumour sites.
The lead registries support the National Cancer Intelligence
Network Site Specific Clinical Reference Group (NCIN
SSCRG) for that site and deal with data requests for the relevant
tumours. NWCIS is the lead for Teenagers and Young Adults.
From 1st April 2013,
NWCIS will be part of Public Health England
